ARTMA Report 18th May 2023: ARTMA Team Visits Amawbia and Onitsha

ARTMA Report 19 May, 2023

ARTMA DIARY
Thursday, 18th May 2023.

Keeping up with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo‘s desire for a prosperous and livable Anambra state, a special enforcement team headed by Engr. Okonkwo Emeka (Konti) visited Amawbia.

KEEP MOVING signs were mounted after the St. Matthew’s bus stop, down to the roundabout.
This implies that after St Matthew’s bus stop, all commercial vehicles are expected to drive into Amawbia Park.

Any vehicle both private and commercial seen parking on the road will be impounded.

The team set out for Onitsha.
Destroyed signs from the Borromeo roundabout, Upper Iweka, and Uga junction were replaced.

There was a terrible gridlock by the bridge and it was caused by the indiscriminate picking and dropping of passengers by the blue Asaba buses.

We have secured a loading bay for them by the service lane close to the ARTMA office.
KEEP MOVING roadsigns were also installed at the foot of the bridge.

Asaba and Agbor Passengers are advised to go to the allocated park to join a bus and not stand by the bridge henceforth as we might be forced to arrest Passengers seen on the bridge.

Usually, the gridlock starts from the Asaba end of the bridge as a result of several checkpoints.

The team on a fact-finding mission walked across the bridge while controlling the traffic, had a friendly chat with the police officers, and urged them to hasten up their stop and search as the ripple effect was getting frustrating.

A visit to the site of the 2nd Niger Bridge wrapped up our day. The site manager assured us that the blocked lane and the second Niger bridge will be open for use before the 25th of this month.

ARTMA will continue to put in our quota to help Mr. Governor achieve his desire for Anambra state.

Road users are once again advised to obey road signs as our officers are readily available to arrest defaulters.
