Anambra State Government Commences Training For ARTMA Officials On Tackling Gridlock

The Anambra State Government has commenced a three-day training for officials of the Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency as part of measures to tackle the worsening problem of gridlocks and lawlessness on roads within the state.

The training which is ongoing at the NYSC Orientation Camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu is led by the Managing Director of the agency, Engr. Emeka Okonkwo.

The training will ensure that the permanent staff of the agency and 180 ad-hoc officers engaged by the agency are properly equipped with modern skills and best practices in traffic management and control.

Engineer Okonkwo said that resource persons for the training were brought from the federal ministry of transport, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA.

Engr. Okonkwo also explained that the training will cover not just road traffic management but also human relations as their resource persons are expected to draw from their wealth of experience working in the public and private sectors.

He explained that the reason for the training is to ensure standardization on the roads in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in all sectors.

The ARTMA Boss assured the public that allegations of the existence of touts in the agency have been taken care of as the agency, now, has an accurate database of its workers, warning to deal decisively with staff caught wanting in their jobs.

On his part, the General Manager of the agency Mr. Chidi Umezinwa assured that the staff of the organization is committed to ensuring that Ndị Anambra commutes without stress in all parts of the state.

The theme for the training is “Changing The Face of ARTMA In Traffic Management / Control”.
